About
My name is Jess. I live in MA. I love life, family, food and fun.
I am the oldest of four children. I work in Telecom. My sister Sarah is a web developer, massage therapist, and licensed mixologist, among other things. My brother Mike is a corrections officer and a hunka-hunka-burnin’-love. My sister Becca is a high school senior, getting ready to go off to college, with some good goals set for herself.
In my spare time I like to bake. I make my own bread. I bake and decorate cakes and cupcakes, and cookies in all shapes and sizes. I love to make cheesecakes and quick breads and pies. One of my favorite challenges is converting a sinfully delicious recipe to a healthy delicious recipe.
Baking is something that I have done since I was a little girl. Way back in the early 80s my mom didn’t have a kitchenaid stand mixer. She had two little girls and two strong arms of her own. At Christmas time she would bake all varieties of cookies and quick breads and artisan breads and we would help by creaming butter and sugar together in a big mixing bowl or by cutting out sugar cookie dough in various shapes and decorating with colored sugars before baking. Our friends and family would get tins brimming with fresh baked cookies, or a loaf of sandwich bread, or maybe a handmade apron. To me that’s what life is all about. I like to make people happy with food.
As the years go by we spend Thanksgiving days peeling pounds and pounds of apples for pies and applesauces. We cook turkeys up-side-down only to find that it’s really much juicier that way. We learn from friends that there is something better tasting out there than canned cranberry sauce. We destroy cakes in transit. We discover ganache and can’t believe that we’d lived this long without it in our lives. Life, family, food, and fun….
