What a weekend

This weekend was not at all what I had expected it to be, but it was great none-the-less.  We had one thing on the calendar for Saturday night and that was it.
It turns out that even though I had put Aunt Sue’s holiday open house on the calendar for the Saturday after Christmas, that’s not when she scheduled it for.  Thank goodness Mom asked me on Saturday morning if she would see me there later on in the day.  I quickly rearranged my mental plans and made it a point to be there for 5:00.  We left at about 8:30 and headed out to the Moan and Dove to have a pint with friends and to hear Ger read the poems that he wrote for the accomplishment of finishing his Mug List.
On Sunday morning Dad called to see if he and Bex could stop over for a visit.   So they came over at a little after 11:00, just as Chris was leaving to do some work on his sister’s car.  Sarah popped over to visit with them for a bit too, and when she left for the gym we had lunch.  They took off for home a bit after 4:00 and I wrapped up the laundry, rearranged the bedroom furniture a bit, read some pages of my new book, and sat around talking with my husband for a bit before bedtime.
When the alarm went off at 4:10 this morning I can honestly say that I did not want to get up.  I even went so far as to hit the snooze button while I talked myself into getting my ass out of bed.  I’m glad I did too.  While my ass dragged behind me all the way into the gym, I ended up having a good workout and felt way better when I left.  Yay.
Some new things that I can’t wait to make for Christmas: gingersnap cupcakes with cream cheese frosting, eggnog bread pudding with brandied cranberries, hazlenut tea cookies, and dark chocolate fudge with cranberries and toasted pecans.
